A custom shower-knob adapter for an easier grip.

Wet hands made this shower knob awkward to turn, particularly for the children using it. A small printed adapter added a longer grip around the existing control.

The everyday problem

The original control offered little to hold when hands were wet. The design brief was to make turning it easier without replacing the surrounding shower fixture.

The printed solution

A yellow adapter fits around the knob and extends into a handle. The fitted shape and lever are visible in the project footage. The family's reported result was an easier way to operate the control; no quantified grip-force or durability testing is claimed.

Why the existing fitting matters

A similar-looking knob can have different dimensions, clearances and travel. For a new enquiry, send close-up and wider photos, the control's measurements, and the space available as it turns. We review fit and intended use rather than supply this example as a standard part.

Bathroom use requires an individual discussion of moisture, temperature, cleaning and wear. Do not use a printed adapter as a repair for faulty plumbing or a safety control. Material, tolerances and suitability must be agreed for the actual application.

Start with the problem, not a model.

You do not need an STL file to ask about a practical idea. See what to send for design assistance, or read about our custom cabinet insert for another example of fitting a print to an existing space.
